Can you capture the essence and spirit of Jacksonville in a candle?

Well, it depends on what you mean by “essence.” If you mean “the scent of slightly burnt coffee beans that wafts through the downtown air like a slightly burnt kiss,” then yes. You can capture that in a candle. If you want to.

It also depends on what you mean by “spirit.” If you mean “the feeling of seeing the Main Street Bridge looming over the city, in all of its magnificent blueness,” the answer is yes. If, however, you mean “the ghostly spirit that haunts the balcony of the historic Florida Theatre,” then the answer is no. Why would we try to capture a ghost in a candle? We wouldn’t do that to our customers.

And finally, it depends on what you mean by “Jacksonville.” If you mean Jacksonville, Illinois, the answer is no. Many have tried, but none have succeeded. But if you mean Jacksonville, Florida, the answer is “I think so?” I’m from Jacksonville, and this candle captures the essence and spirit of Jacksonville for me, personally.

So in closing, the answer is maybe.

Too cute to burn!

These candles are great, and smell exactly as expected, although they are too cute to burn. The only problem we see is it says no one knows why Jax smells like coffee which is entirely false. Everyone knows. There is a giant Maxwell House facility right on the river downtown! Definitely love the look and copywriting though, great gifts!

The Bold New Candle of the South

The Jacksonville candle smells like a cup of Maxwell House coffee. I like to sniff it during the day.
The Main Street bridge is there in all its blueness and there is even a boat going under it.
Candle label has fun facts about the City, its bridges, and the number 4.
Great candle with delightful scent! Good to the last drop (of
wax).
