The Fancy Candle is created by pouring wax from one container into a different container, and then aged in our “cellar” (basement) for however long it takes for us to sell it. It is made in small batches, because the table where we pour candles is not very big. Maybe someday we’ll get a bigger table, but maybe not. The label is hand-applied because, although we do own a candle labeling machine, it is difficult to set up.
The fragrance opens with notes of sun-ripened pomegranate. The bottom notes are of a dry and smoldering woodsmoke, recalling an evening spent reclining around the hearth, or gazing into the embers of a forest bonfire. The result is both luminous and grounded, a memory of something once festive, now quiet.
